(Ir)reparable losses

2022

Asphalt, plaster cast, acrylic, drawing on plastic film

The project (Ir)reparable losses (2022) addresses the end of the COVID-19 lockdown.  Thinking about how to get life back to normal after the isolation and interrupted plans of the pandemic years, the artist came to the metaphor of museum restoration. As numerous cracks are carefully assembled to reconstruct the original piece, our damaged ability to dream, as well as our daring ability to make future plans, needs to be nourished and repaired carefully. Using fragments of earlier broken reliefs, the artist reassembles them to create new objects  in which she plays with the concept of the fragility of dreams, yet leaves space for possible restoration.
